Sorry for the lack of updates.  I’ve had a lot going on in my life too.  But, that’s not too interesting from a Jordyn perspective….back to the girl of the hour.

Jordyn finally came home on Thursday.  The one day delay was mostly due to a rescheduling of her car-seat test.

Now that she and her parents are home, we should be able to get some updates directly from them.

In other oddity news, I recently found out that if you search on just the name Jordyn with MSN Search, this blog is the seventh result. Go figure, right?

We pride ourselves here at Wolosky.net with our accuracy and humor.  Therefore, I feel its necessary to make a correction to an earlier posting of mine.  Due to some miscalculations, we incorrectly reported Jordyn’s increase in weight.  She hasn’t quite passed the 5lb mark yet.  She’s actually at 4lbs 10oz.

In other news, it’s possible that she’ll be going home on Wednesday.  (My) mom is getting the car seat base installed in Jackson tomorrow by the Jackson police department, and then she’ll be driving it out to the hospital where they’ll be checking to see if Jordyn is stable enough to survive the car ride home.  If she is, then she’ll get to go home with the new parents on Wednesday until her next scheduled surgery!

Dana was able to hold Jordyn twice yesterday, and even got to feed her a bottle and change her diaper (no word yet on Dana’s reaction to her first diaper change – I’ll try to find out for you).

It’s been a couple days, so I thought that I should fill you all in with the news that I have.

If you haven’t been checking out her photo album, you’ve been missing out. Lewis and Dad have been uploading some new photos every couple days, so you should check back now and then to see how she’s growing.

First off, we have a weight update…..Jordyn has gained 12oz!!! She’s now up to a staggering 5lb 1oz.  I can almost remember when I could barely even lift that much…it feels like only yesterday….

To go in tandem with that news, today was the first day she was able to take a bottle for feeding! (I think I could easily overuse the exclamation point in this blog…I’ll try to contain myself).  That’s because she passed the Barium Swallow test (and to think…she didn’t even have to study…she’s a born natural).

The chest drainage tube (from her recent heart operation) has been removed, along with her arterium IV line.  She still has the ng (nasal gastral) tube hooked up to her (probably for the next couple days), and she still has some oxygen getting piped in to her via a nasal tube, but she’s almost completely functioning on her own!

I’ll keep you updated as I hear more news.  In the meantime, be sure to check out that photo album.

Jordyn is now in ICU recovering from the surgery.  From what I hear, it went well.  She now has a shunt in her heart.

Because she’s so small, they’re going to let her grow for another six months or so before they go in to repair the hole in her heart.

More as I know it.  

Well, it’s happening sooner than originally expected.

Jordyn’s operation will be the first one tomorrow morning, around 9:15am EST.  Everyone had a consult with the doctors this evening and they stressted that there while this is a serious surgery, it has a good success rate.

Fingers are crossed and prayers are being said.  We’ll find out more tomorrow morning.

Leading up to Jordyn’s birth, we knew that she was going to have to have heart surgery shortly after being born.  What the doctors realized was that some more immediate surgery needed to take place first.

After being born, the doctor’s noticed that she wasn’t breathing correctly and after some examination, realized that her esophagus wasn’t correctly connected to her trachea.  I’m pleased to let you all know that the surgery that was performed to fix this problem was successful.  She is currently hooked up to a feeding tube and ventilators, but I’m told that everything in that regard is ok now.

The doctors are currently evaluating when, within the next few days, they’ll be performing her heart surgery.  We’ll write more when we know more…

Jordyn decided to come out a wee bit early — she’d been hanging out for about 37 weeks and I guess decided she was tired of waiting around.

Lewis and Dana rode in an ambulance all the way to Children’s in Philadelphia (about 1.5 hours) where the proud parents were finally able to meet their new child.
